Katarina Petersen

Katrina’s research examines social, cultural, and ethical impacts of disaster information technologies and the governance of emerging technologies that bring together environmental, hazard, and human data to understand risk. She engages methods that explore how communication tools influence collaborative practices as well as techniques to transform this knowledge into better interdisciplinary and cross-border information sharing and policies. She oversees research and acts as ethics advisor in a range of multi-national research and innovation projects. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Science Studies from the University of California, San Diego.
