Elena K. Sokova

Elena K. Sokova is the Executive Director of the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation. Her primary research areas are international organizations and regimes in nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, fissile materials security and control, nuclear non-proliferation issues in Eurasia, non-proliferation and disarmament education and training. Prior to her post in Vienna, Elena was Deputy Director, James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, where she worked since 1997. Elena Sokova authored numerous articles, book chapters, reports, and other publications on nonproliferation and nuclear security. In 2014-2015, she was a member of the Global Agenda Council on Nuclear Security of the World Economic Forum. Elena serves on the Advisory Board of the International Youth/Student Pugwash and the Advisory Board of the Young Women and Next Generation Initiative of the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium.
