Erich Moechl

*1957 Linz

Independent investigative IT-journalist & researcher mainly focusing on technopolitics, electronic surveillance and the activities of state security agencies in the cyber domain. Had been covering more or less the same fields at ORF.at for the past 25 years. My 40+ year long career in 1983 at “Falter” weekly as a culture & media critic, in 1989 I joined “Der Standard” daily as TV columnist & to cover the rise of electronic media. In 1995 first daily newspaper internet columnist. Next stations were new media & internal communications consultant at “Wirtschaftsblatt” business daily. Then hired in 1999 by ORF.at as managing editor of the tech news channel “FutureZone”.

Mag. Phil 1987 University of Vienna in German, English & American Linguistics and Literature including a diploma in pedagogics. From 2001 to 2011 visiting fellow to the University of Applied Sciences Joanneum in Graz.
