Gerhard A. Maynhardt specialises in counterterrorism, extremism prevention and organised crime. His research interests include European defence and security policies and regional matters on China and the Pacific as well as the Gulf region and North Africa. With this professional experience, he contributes to shaping the European Union’s policy on counterterrorism issues. Gerhard Maynhardt contributes to the teaching programme of the Austrian Military Academy and has published his recent article in the The Defence Horizon Journal” in August 2023 on “Foreign Fighters: possible impact on security in Europe”.
