Gwendolyn Murphy

Gwen is currently a Junior Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna and a PhD Student in Geography & Spatial Sciences at the University of Delaware. Working in Dr. Julie Klinger’s lab, her research assistantship work focuses on narrative analysis and knowledge sovereignty in energy transition materiality issues as they relate to planetary poly-crises. Her academic journey began with a B.A. in Humanistic Studies, widened to interplay with healthcare data analysis and environmental informatics via corporate work and a 2022 M.S. in Environmental Conservation – Earth Observation & Informatics at University of Wisconsin Madison. Now, her graduate research integrates social and data science methodologies to bridge the gap between empirical evidence and lived experience within the context of complex, socio-environmental issues exacerbated by the urgency of climate change.
