Nico Hornig

Nico Hornig is a Research Associate at TU Dortmund University’s Institute of Journalism and a trained journalist. His research focuses on text mining and disinformation studies as part of his work with the German-Austrian Digital Media Observatory (GADMO). In this project, he and his colleagues analysed topics covered by German-language fact-checkers in recent years, examining how sources were used in their work. He was also involved in the FACTCrisis project with the European Fact-Checking Standards Network, where he investigated the challenges fact-checkers face when addressing climate change-related disinformation. He holds a master’s degree in economics and journalism and worked for the German business daily Handelsblatt until October 2022.
