Dr. Stefan Lang is professor for Earth observation at the Department of Geoinformatics and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Digital and Analytical Sciences at the University of Salzburg. As a renowned expert in the area of satellite remote sensing and Copernicus he has proactively shaped the uptake of geospatial technology in the field of humanitarian action, conflict and disaster management and – recently – peace building and peace keeping. He is the head of the Christian-Doppler Laboratory GEOHUM, co-funded by the Austrian branch of Doctors without Borders (MSF), where innovative solutions in Geospatial and AI are explored. Prof Lang is actively involved in skills development and international educational programmes, for example the European University CIVIS and the Erasmus Joint Master “Copernicus Master in Digital Earth”.
