Since January, 2021 Anders Garly Andersen serves as Deputy Head of Mission of the EU Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM Libya). An experienced diplomat with more than 25 years of experience in international politics, crisis management and conflict prevention, he has previously served with the United Nations in South America and held a number of senior management positions in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as Deputy Ambassador to Thailand and Ethiopia and Danish Ambassador to Mali. A citizen of Denmark born in 1967, Anders holds an M.A. in International Politics and Governance after studies at University of Roskilde, University of Edinburgh and Universidad de Málaga.
