Franziska Brantner has been in the Bundestag since 2013. Prior to that, she was a member of the European Parliament for four years. Born in Baden-Württemberg, she studied political science and economics, is a social scientist, and earned degrees in Paris and New York. She completed her doctorate in Mannheim on the United Nations’ capacity for reform. In her first legislative term, she chaired the Subcommittee on Civilian Crisis Prevention, Conflict Transition and Networked Action. From February 2018 to 2021, she was European Policy Spokesperson and Chief Whip of the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group. In 2021, she won the direct mandate for the electoral district of Heidelberg. Since then, she has been Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.
