Joachim Allgaier is Professor for Communication and Digital Society at the Department of Nutritional, Food and Consumer Sciences of Fulda University of Applied Sciences, Germany. Previously he was a senior researcher at RWTH Aachen University, deputy director of the Department of Science, Technology and Society Studies at Alpen-Adria-Universität in Klagenfurt, researcher at the Jülich Helmholtz Research Center and the University of Vienna and Honorary Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is also a visiting researcher at the Department of Health and Social Studies at Østfold University College, Norway and holds a PhD from the Open University (UK). In 2015 he had been elected as a member of the Global Young Academy.
